Before You Vote
Before the election, every eligible voter is mailed a Voter Information Letter. It contains the web address and toll-free phone number you'll use to vote, along with your Personal Identification Number (PIN). You need this letter to vote, whichever method you choose, so keep it somewhere safe once it arrives.
If you're eligible and haven't received your letter as the voting period approaches, contact the Town's election office using the details in the Need Help section below.
Voting Online
Go to the website address in your letter on a computer, tablet, or smartphone. Here's what happens next.
Log in
Enter your complete date of birth (year, month, day) and your PIN, then click Login. If you make a mistake, you'll be prompted to try again.
Fill out your ballot
You'll see every race you're eligible to vote in for your ward, such as Mayor and your Ward Councillor. Work through them one at a time. Read each race's instructions carefully: most let you pick one candidate, but some allow more than one (for example, "select up to 2"). You can also choose to abstain from any race, or decline to vote at all.
Review and confirm
Once you've worked through the ballot, click Continue to see a summary of your selections. Review it carefully; you can click Change to go back. When you're ready, click Confirm.
Confirming is final, the same as dropping a paper ballot in the box. It cannot be undone.
You're done
You'll be logged out automatically once your ballot is submitted.
Voting By Phone
Call the toll-free number in your letter from any touch-tone phone or cellphone. It works the same way as voting online, just by keypad and voice prompts instead of a screen.
Log in
You'll be asked to enter your complete date of birth, then your PIN followed by the number sign. If you make a mistake, you'll be prompted to try again.
Choose to vote or decline
Press 1 to proceed to vote, or 2 to decline to vote in every race.
Vote race by race
You'll hear each race and its candidates by name, each with a number to press. Press 0 to abstain from a race instead. In races where you can choose more than one candidate, you'll be prompted to select another or press 0 to move on.
Confirm your choices
You'll hear a summary of everything you selected. Listen carefully, then press 1 to submit, 2 to change your choices, or 3 to hear the summary again.
Pressing 1 to confirm is final, the same as dropping a paper ballot in the box. It cannot be undone.
You're done
You'll hear "Your vote has been recorded" and the call will end automatically.
Who Can Vote, and When
Who's Eligible
You must be 18 or older, a Canadian citizen, and qualify through residency in Bradford West Gwillimbury, ownership of property here as a non-resident, or as the spouse of a non-resident elector. You can only vote for candidates in the ward where you live, so I can only count on your vote if you're a Ward 4 resident.
No Advance Voting or Proxies
There's no separate advance voting period, since internet and phone voting are already open for the full 10-day window. Proxy voting (having someone else vote on your behalf) isn't permitted.

Contact the election office directly using the details above. Don't wait until close to October 26 to sort this out.
